How Big is Your “Why” and Where is it Taking You?

United States | agel enterprise

Many wonder why I love my job so much. After all, I’m constantly traveling all over the country and across continents. My kids sometimes have a hard time remembering what color my hair is. When I am at home, I usually have the phone implanted in my ear. It’s a busy life, but I do love it. Why? Because it gives me the opportunity to be with you. There’s something indescribable about watching people grow and make daily progress toward their dreams.

I’ve seen it time and time again in this business: ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary things. Some might call it luck or fate. Others might shake their heads and say, “If only I could.” But you can! Each and every one of you has the ability to achieve far beyond your current understanding. You have the secret within you.

It’s been said time and time again; You can accomplish anything if you have a big enough “Why!” Having a big “why” will not only motivate you to do those unpleasant tasks that stand between you and your dreams, it can also make them more fun. We humans are purpose-driven, and when our lives have no purpose, we die…along with our dreams. Focusing your thoughts on why you are doing this business will elevate your gaze over the temporary stumbling blocks that others focus on and keep your eye riveted on your eventual destination.

Brian Tracy puts it this way, “To become a motivational leader, you start with motivating yourself. You motivate yourself with a big vision, and as you move progressively toward its realization, you motivate and enthuse others to work with you to fulfill that vision.” It’s absolutely true. Small dreams never have power to inspire great action. So, not only must our “why” be ever present in our minds, it must be big in order to motivate our actions.

Think back on times in the past when you fell short of a desired outcome. Most likely, you were too busy focusing on your obstacles. In this case, we could all take a lesson from Hernando Cortez. In 1519, he set out from Spain on his mission for conquest and riches. When he finally landed on the Yacatan Peninsula, he had experienced some success, but mostly disappointment. He knew that, if not soon successful, his men would mutiny, jump back on their boats and sail back to Spain. His order? “Burn the Ships!” He eliminated any “escape” that would have supported his failure. They HAD to succeed…or die.

I encourage you to “burn the ships” that keep you from pushing on toward your dreams, regardless of whether that dream is to provide money for your children’s education or to spend more time with them before they leave for college. Perhaps you are using your Agel business as a source of income to make your mortgage payment or to buy an incredible new dream house. Whatever your “why,” make them big; focus on them daily, and they will be yours sooner than you think.

Yours in Purpose,
